Running is a very effective full-body workout, but it can also take a toll. To reduce the amount of damage caused by running, run only half as far as normal for one week out of every six. If you push yourself too hard during running you can cause permanent damage. Let your body rest from time to time. Avoid eating immediately before your workout.
